How to Troubleshoot CarPlay Connection Issues in your Ford Electric Explorer

If you are experiencing any Apple CarPlay connection issues please follow the steps below to resolve these:

Wired Connection

  1. Ensure you are using a certified Apple Lightning® cable to connect if you want to use a wired connection.
  2. When disconnecting the device from the USB cable, make sure to select the Disconnect icon.
  3. Delete all vehicle profiles from the CarPlay app settings on your device. This is found in the General Settings menu.
  4. Ensure your device has the latest iOS software level.
  5. Restart the device.
  6. Restore the infotainment system to factory settings.

Wireless Connection

  1. Verify that your phone and vehicle are capable of wireless connectivity through CarPlay.
  2. Ensure your device has the latest iOS software level.
  3. Be sure that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your device.
  4. Reset the Network Settings on your device, which will reset all existing wireless connections that have been previously established and restore the factory defaults for the network settings only.
  5. Restart the device.
  6. Delete all vehicle profiles from the CarPlay app settings on your device. This is found in the General Settings menu.
  7. Attempt to connect via USB and, once successful, disconnect and attempt wirelessly connecting once more.
  8. Turn the vehicle on and off.
  9. Restore the infotainment system to factory settings.
