What is the difference between AC and DC charging?

AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) define the ways energy is passed onto a vehicle from a charge point. AC is electricity typically supplied by utility companies to homes and businesses. DC is a type of electricity typically supplied by batteries. When recharging electric vehicles DC charging is typically refered to as 'Fast Charging', and can greatly reduce the time required to charge your vehicle.
