What is Keyless Entry?

The Ford Keyless Entry system lets you lock and unlock your car, without taking your key out of your pocket or bag. Sensors around the car detect the presence of the ‘passive key’ and activate the locking mechanism accordingly.

All doors can be unlocked but only after you unlock and open the front door nearest to the key e.g. If you stand by the driver door with the key you couldn't get in the passenger door until the driver door is opened. Please note that if you open the boot with keyless entry, only the boot unlocks and then shutting the boot again returns the car to a locked state.

Note: A valid passive key must be within one of the three external detection ranges. These are approximately 3ft (1m) from the front door handles and the boot.

The system does not function if:

  • The vehicle battery has no charge
  • The passive key battery has no charge
  • The passive key frequencies are jammed
  • The passive key is too close to metal objects or electronic devices, for example keys or a mobile phone

If the system does not function, use the remote control or the key blade to lock and unlock your vehicle.
