With Ford software updates, your SYNC 3 or 4 equipped vehicle is continually evolving. Just like your smartphone, Ford automatic software updates download seamlessly in the background. So, your Ford is always up to date and performing at its best.

SYNC 3

Software updates are available for all new Fords equipped with FordPass Connect. Cloud-connected technology allows background firmware updates and bug fixes for SYNC 3, as well as installing completely new features. You can even share your driving information with selected insurance companies to get a completely personalised premium.

SYNC 4

Next-generation Ford cars with SYNC 4 offer greater connectivity and more powerful updates. With over-the-air technology, Ford Software Updates improve SYNC software and upgrade your vehicle’s performance, comfort, and capability.

USING FORD WITH SYNC 4

Change your update preferences using your car’s touchscreen. You can accept automatic updates, turn them off (they will still download but won’t be installed until you approve them), or schedule regular updates for specific features.

AUTOMATIC UPDATES

SYNC 4 automatically downloads Ford software updates and installs them when the car is switched off. The update will be completed the next time you start the car. You’ll also get an alert that the installation is complete via the FordPass App, and on the car’s touchscreen.

SCHEDULED UPDATES

Some Ford software updates need to be scheduled in advance, as the car needs to be switched off to install them. SYNC 4 will let you know when these updates are available and prompt you to choose an installation time. You’ll get an alert that the installation is complete through the FordPass App and on the car’s touchscreen.
