How is the Credit calculated?
We calculate the average of the Qualifying Vehicles’ efficiency by dividing the average usable battery size by the official Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) test results for range. Predicting exact range is tricky, and range will depend on a number of factors such as speed, style of driving, weather conditions and route condition.
Illustrative example of how we calculate Credit for vehicles on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff as an average of the Qualifying Vehicles. The average of the Qualifying Vehicles’ efficiency has a usable battery size of 68.5 (kWh); divided by a real world range of 229.53 (miles), gives you 0.31 kWh/mile.
● 0.31 kWh/mile (car's energy efficiency) x 10,000 (miles/year) = 3,100 kWh
● 3,100 kWh x 7pence (price of energy per kWh for off-peak charging on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff) = £217 (charging costs for 10,000 miles)
For the purposes of calculating the Credit value, we assume that you will only charge your car at home during the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak window (currently from 23:30-05.30) or during the times that we are smart charging your car at this off-peak rate.
Your free miles translate into a one-time fixed Credit which will be applied to your Octopus Energy account once your Qualifying Vehicle has been delivered, you’ve successfully joined the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, and your first direct debit has been taken.
Qualifying Vehicles that form part of this Offer may receive more, or in some cases less, than 10,000 free miles of Credit.
Please note the mileage figures shown above are based on WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) test data. Actual real world driving results may vary depending on various factors, such as the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted after registration, weather conditions, driving styles and vehicle load. We shall not be liable for providing Credit for additional mileage under any circumstance.
