The Transit Connect blends legendary Transit toughness with smart technology to help you get the job done. The FordPass Connect modem unlocks a range of connectivity features, including live traffic updates delivered straight to the SYNC 3 navigation screen, and information on local hazards that could impact your journey. Advanced systems like Lane Keeping Aid and Active Park Assist take the stress out of driving. A choice of EcoBoost Petrol and EcoBlue Diesel engines deliver the power you want and the efficiency you need. Inside you can carry items up to 3.4 metres long and side load doors make access effortless.
Transit Connect features a new full design of steel bulkhead that increases usable load space by approximately 50 litres. The Transit Connect has a max load space width of over 1.5m at the floor and a load space height of over 1.2m from floor to roof. This means there’s enough room for two Euro-pallets or four standard 8’ x 4’ boards in the load box.
Carry items up to 3.0 metres in length in the Transit Connect L1 van, thanks to the clever Load-through bulkheadTooltip. Even more impressive, Transit Connect L2 models are capable of holding 3.4-metre-long items. Load-through bulkhead is optonal on all Van.
When you’ve got this much load space, wide side doors are vital and because they’re used a lot, the whole mechanism is built to maximise ease of use and durability. The latest design enhances access through the side load door(s) and is compatible with many commercially-available van racking systems.
Tie-down points are usually mounted on the floor. But they can be hard to get at when you’re trying to secure your cargo. So, Transit Connect has Tie-down points positioned just above the floor on the side wall of the load space. This leaves the floor clear of obstructions, making access more convenient, eliminating dirt traps and allowing for convenient cleaning.
Load space lamps are fitted as standard. You can also specify the option of ultra-bright LED lighting if required.
An optional easy-clean load-floor liner means you don’t have to install your own covering. This heavy-duty floor makes it effortless to slide goods in and out, makes sweeping and cleaning quicker and easier, and will help maintain the residual value of your van.
As a measure of the vehicle’s build quality, the Transit Connect comes with a 12-year anti-perforation warranty as standard.

Transit Connect is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, making it more economical and efficient. Once you reach a high enough speed, just slip your van into 6th gear and save on fuel while you’re cruising along. You’ll find the gear changes are smooth and quick too.
The Transit Connect features an advanced new automatic transmission. With improved acceleration and super-smooth gear changes, it’s engineered from the ground up to enhance your driving experience, optimise fuel efficiency, and maximise the performance of the van.
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you're ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Transit Connect Active is available with an advanced system that’s built to help you tackle difficult terrain with ease. The optional mechanical Limited-Slip Differential reduces unwanted wheel spin, especially on loose or uneven surfaces, by directing power to the wheel with the most traction. This helps to keep you and your cargo moving forwards when you need it most.
Active Park Assist can steer you into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals). It will pull out of parallel spaces as well. (Option on selected models)
Front and rear parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles in front or behind you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate a visual and audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it. Rear parking sensors are standard on Sport, Limited and Active series.
Bollards, bicycles, low walls… The rear-view camera shows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear. (Option)
Cruise Control lets you set a speed then maintains it until you brake or accelerate. Via toggles on the steering wheel you can also adjust your speed while you’re driving.
In addition, the Adjustable Speed Limiter device helps you drive within a pre-set limit that you select. Not only does it help you to save fuel, the system can minimise the likelihood of you exceeding the speed limit too. As well as their practical benefits, both technologies can make long motorway journeys more relaxing. (Option)
Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed or a no-overtaking sign appears on the instrument cluster and changes every time it detects you entering a new limit. (Option on selected series)
A Lane Keeping System uses a forward-looking camera to detect if you’re unintentionally drifting out of lane. Lane Keeping Alert then warns you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning. If you're slow to react or don’t respond, Lane Keeping Aid can provide steering torque assistance to help guide you back into the right lane. The technology is designed for multi-lane roads (like motorways), so will automatically deactivate at speeds below 43mph or can be turned off manually. (Option)
Intelligent Speed Assist is designed to enhance your speed control, enabling you to concentrate on the road. First, the Traffic Sign Recognition camera automatically detects the current speed limit (when activated), then the system adjusts your maximum speed setting to that limit. (Option)Tooltip
The Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They’re situated on either side of your Transit Connect and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror. (Option)
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2.5 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It’s also useful when you’re stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.
The new slimmer automatic headlights incorporate powerful HID Xenon lamps and striking LED daytime running lights. An integrated sensor detects failing light at dusk, or when there’s a sudden change in light conditions. This triggers the automatic headlights to turn themselves on, which can make driving both easier and safer. (Option on selected models)
Ford SYNC 3Tooltip is an advanced system that enables you to stay connected and control your phone, music and navigation system. Choose either voice commands or the 6” colour touchscreen with pinch-and-swipe gestures for intuitive navigation. Live Traffic can help you avoid the jams. The device dock is designed to hold your satnav, Smartphone or MP3 Player and includes a USB connectivity port. Available on Leader.

The Transit Connect automatically senses the presence of its own unique key fob, even if it’s in your pocket or bag. So just press the Ford Power starter button and the engine will start. Standard on Sport, Limited and Active series.
The Transit Connect is full of handy storage spaces. For example, a stowage shelf above the driver and passenger makes effective use of an otherwise unused space, so you can keep your cab tidy and still keep items within easy reach.
The intelligently designed centre console features a 12-volt power socket, USB connectivity with charging, two cup-holders and storage areas designed to accomodate an A4 folder. Standard with dual passanger seats.
However cold it gets outside, you should always stay warm in your vehicle. Optional heated adjustable front seats ensure you can work in comfort even in the winter.
The dual passenger seat allows an extra passenger to be seated in the cabin. The flexible centre seat can also fold flat to create a handy writing surface, or flip up to reveal a convenient storage box for items that you want kept from view. (Option)
With Dual-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control you can select the temperatures you and your passenger each prefer and the system maintains it with advanced air conditioning. (Option)
This makes it almost impossible to put the wrong fuel in your vehicle because the wrong nozzle simply won’t fit. As Ford Easy-Fuel is a capless system, you’ll never have to handle a dirty fuel cap again.
To avoid accidental damage, power-foldable mirrors fold inwards when you’re parked. Tucked back, they also protect the stylish integrated indicators. They’re heated, too, which means quicker getaways on frosty mornings.
The Global Closing feature enables you to open and close all of the van’s windows with your key fob. This helps you to ventilate the van on hot days before you get behind the wheel.
To help you find your ideal, most comfortable driving position, the steering column easily adjusts for both rake and reach.
Pre-Collision Assist detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or who could cross the vehicle’s path, and warns you of their presence. If you don’t respond, the system automatically applies the brakes. This technology is designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether, and functions at speeds of up to 80km/h (50 mph). (Option)
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when it’s losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, helping to stabilise it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.
An advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most. The system constantly monitors and adjusts the power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels ensuring maximum contact and grip when you’re accelerating.
Helps you stay in lane in strong, gusty conditions by using the Electronic Stability Control system to sense when the vehicle is being affected by crosswinds.
Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution combine to ensure that your braking is effective. Emergency Brake Assist also helps your vehicle achieve maximum braking effectiveness in an emergency situation. It’s controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, which senses how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and automatically increases it, if necessary. If you brake heavily, the emergency brake light system flashes the brake lights to warn other drivers.
The instrument cluster features a Distance Indicator. This continuously displays the distance to the vehicle in front and illuminates a traffic light system of coloured icons depending on the proximity settings you’ve chosen. Distance alert can also alert you with a red warning symbol if you get too close to the vehicle in front. (Option)
Driver Alert constantly monitors your driving behaviour and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you’re becoming less vigilant, a warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take a break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime. (Option)
If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.
MyKey lets you set the maximum speed limit, a seatbelt reminder and even the volume of the audio system, among many other settings. The technology is designed to give you peace of mind if you lend your vehicle to a friend or family member, because you can programme the restrictions you want to set for that key. You can keep the unrestricted ‘admin’ key yourself and even have more than one of both if you want.
The Transit Connect has remote control central door locking, which is more secure than ever. That’s because you can choose to open one individual door while the other doors stay securely locked, until you activate a switch on the driver’s door. This same switch controls the locking and unlocking of all the vehicle’s doors. All door locks are protected by anti-tamper shielding designed to prevent them being broken by force.
The Transit Connect is available with an optional perimeter alarm system, which activates if the doors or bonnet are opened by force. A more sophisticated Thatcham Category 1 alarm system is also available. This automatically arms itself on locking and sounds a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or the motion sensors picking up movement inside. This includes an independent battery powered back-up siren which activates when the alarm is triggered, even if someone disconnects the main vehicle battery.
